Super Saturday

With the indispensible assistance of Angie and Iain and despite the heavy showers by 6.30pm on Saturday evening we packed away the lights and cleaned the tools. This pictures was taken on Monday morning.

Man the pumps

After a night of heavy rain showers I woke up to find our excavations full of water - probably about 6,000 litres! We emptied the founds by a variety of means; pail, 12v bilge pump, and by digging a drain around the bank.

Finally, by 3.30pm the footings were poured and ready for blockwork.

Groundworks almost ready for the concrete to arrive for the footings.

The wise man built his house upon a rock...

This has turned out to be a really good site for the extension - mainly broken rock, but we came across a really hard seam of rock, which required my cousin's 13 ton digger with a breaker fitted. It was almost a whole day of seeking solutions and various failed attempts to deal with the rock and then the 13 tonner did the whole job in half an hour...
